So today I bought a pair of Oakley Fuel Cell sunglasses with regular lenses in them, with the plan of getting Polarized Prescription lenses put into them. Does anyone know or have a general idea of roughly how much I should expect to pay for just the lenses?

I got a pair of Ray Bans last summer the frames cost me $100 and the lenses cost me $125. So in other words, a lot.

I didn't even know sunglasses touched 3 digit prices. The most expensive pair I've ever bought were some classic aviators for like, ~$20 at Navy Pier, grossly overpriced. But they were the only mirrored aviators that fits me well.

iirc the Optometrist I spoke with at Lenscrafters (specifically an in-house Ophthalmologist) said in the range of 2-300 for lenses from Oakley alone, not counting any additions to the lens coatings etc... good luck! I've always wanted a pair of Rx Oakleys

Oakley themselves have a prescription department and they make the best lenses for their glasses. Seriously their RX lenses are highly regarded. With that I honestly do not know what they would charge but for my raybans that i get done every few years G15 tinted NON-polarized cost around 150-170 for just the lenses. i get non-polarized because i use them to read instruments/screens at work...polarized make digital watches and digital screens look black unless you tilt your head funny.

Now, theres alot of funny shaped lenses going on at oakley and other sport type frames but if you have regular style lenses then it becomes a regular lens cost. od shapes and the price goes way up.

Yeah on Oakley's website there are only 2 glasses that are under $100. They can get crazy expensive.

Speaking of sun glasses. Dillon optics (I'd hope most of us know about them, seeing as Matt Farah rocks them, and they have a link on thesmokingtire for them). Anyone know there polices on ordering/returning glasses? I want a pair, but there are 0 stores near me that carry them, so I can't even put them on to know if I like them.

Whatever Lenscrafters feels like charging you :p

If you're fortunate enough to have insurance, that would also change the price.

Real Oakley lenses will be pretty expensive, probably somewhere around $50, while you could easily get lenses made by other companies specifically for the Fuel Cells that will be a bit less. These may be of poorer quality and may not have as good of a warranty, though.

My words of advice are to refrain from Oakley stores, Sunglass Hut, Amazon and Oakley's site. The prices will eat waaaay too much out of your wallet for a damn pair of sunglasses. Be sure to check oakleyvault.com , as this is Oakley's site for dumping the gear they want to get rid of, but you still get the fantastic Oakley warranty. Plus, they frequently have sales where the gear is EVEN CHEAPER than normal, such as right now, where some glasses are 70% off.

Good luck

Hey, I just got a pair of polarized prescription Oakley sunglasses! They were very expensive. Expect to pay a lot of money, over $100 for the lenses.

Did you buy the lenses individually or did you get them with the frames? I'm afraid that because I bought frames by themselves and now that I'm getting lenses by themselves I'll probably end up paying quite a bit...

I got them with the frames but I think I still had to pay for them.

Don't waste your money on 'branded' polarized lenses. They come in three basic colors g15, b15 (brown) and basic grey. You cant tell them apart from non branded lenses. 300+ for branded or 150ish for standard polarized lenses.

Yeah, I think I might get contact lenses and use them with the sunglasses (without prescription). I think that may be easier than having to switch between prescription sunglasses when I'm driving/outside and regular glasses when I go inside. That seems like it'll be easier and (probably) cheaper
